Tourist Visa Checklist
1. Online Application Form (DS-160)
- DS-160 Form:
- Complete the DS-160 form.
2. Passport
- Valid Passport:
- Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay in the U.S. (unless exempt by country-specific agreements).
- Must have at least one blank page for the visa stamp.
- Previous Passports:
- Carry previous passports if they contain past U.S. visas or relevant travel history.
3. Photograph
- Digital Photograph:
- Upload a recent photo when completing the DS-160 form.
- The photo must meet U.S. visa photo requirements (2 inches x 2 inches, white background, taken within the last 6 months).
- Printed Photograph:
- Bring one printed photo to the interview (same as the uploaded photo).
4. Appointment Confirmation
- Schedule Visa Appointment:
- Log in to the U.S. Visa Information and Appointment System for your country.
- Book two appointments:
- Biometrics appointment at the Visa Application Center (VAC).
- Visa interview at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate.
- Print the appointment confirmation for both appointments.
5. Proof of Purpose of Visit
- Tourism (B2):
- A detailed travel itinerary (including flight reservations, hotel bookings, and planned activities).
- Business (B1):
- Invitation letter from the U.S. company detailing the purpose and duration of the visit.
- Letter from your employer stating your designation, purpose of travel, and leave approval.
6. Financial Documents
- Proof of Financial Means:
- Latest 3–6 months of bank statements showing sufficient funds to cover your stay.
- Pay slips, Income Tax Returns (ITR), or Form 16 for the last 3 years.
- For Self-Employed:
- Business registration documents, tax filings, and profit/loss statements.
7. Supporting Documents
- Proof of Ties to Home Country:
- Property ownership documents or rental agreements.
- Family ties, including marriage certificates or birth certificates of dependents.
- Employment letter or proof of ongoing education.
- Civil Status Documents:
- Marriage certificate, if applicable.
8. Travel and Medical Insurance
- Travel Insurance:
- Though not mandatory, having travel and medical insurance is highly recommended to cover emergencies.
9. Previous U.S. Visa and Travel History
- If Applicable:
- Copies of past U.S. visas or denial letters.
- Evidence of previous travel to other countries (visas/stamps in the passport).
10. Additional Documents (If Applicable)
- For Minors:
- Notarized parental consent letter (if the child is traveling without both parents).
- Copy of the child’s birth certificate and parents’ passports.
- For Medical Treatment (B2):
- Medical diagnosis from a local doctor.
- Letter from a U.S. medical facility confirming treatment and costs.
- For Conferences/Seminars (B1):
- Invitation or registration for the event, including details of the organizer.
11. At the Biometrics Appointment
- Required Documents:
- DS-160 Confirmation Page.
- Appointment Confirmation Letter.
- Valid Passport.
12. At the Visa Interview
Documents to Carry:
- DS-160 Confirmation Page.
- Appointment Confirmation Letter.
- Valid Passport and previous passports.
- Supporting documents (financial proof, travel itinerary, invitation letters, etc.).
- Fee payment receipt.
