Tourist Visa Checklist
1. Visa Application Form
- Online Application Form:
- Complete the Standard Visitor Visa application.
2. Passport
- Valid Passport:
- Must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in the UK.
- Must have at least one blank page for the visa stamp.
- Previous Passports:
- Carry old passports if they contain previous UK visas or significant travel history.
3. Photograph
- Passport-sized Photo:
- Recent, color photo (45mm x 35mm).
- White background, no glasses (unless required medically), and no head coverings (unless for religious purposes).
- Photo specifications must comply with UKVI guidelines.
4. Visa Application Fee
- Standard Visa Fee.
5. Proof of Travel Purpose
- Tourism:
- A detailed travel itinerary, including flight bookings, accommodation details, and planned activities.
- Visiting Family/Friends:
- Invitation letter from the host in the UK.
- Copy of the host’s passport and visa/residence permit (if not a UK citizen).
6. Proof of Financial Means
- Bank Statements:
- 3–6 months of recent bank statements stamped by the bank.
- Income Proof:
- Pay slips for the last 3 months.
- Income Tax Returns (ITR) or Form 16 (for Indian applicants).
- For Self-Employed:
- Business registration certificate, recent tax returns, and financial documents.
- Proof of Sponsorship (if applicable):
- If someone is sponsoring your trip, include their financial documents and a sponsorship letter.
7. Proof of Ties to Home Country
- Employment Proof:
- Letter from employer stating your position, salary, and approved leave.
- Proof of Education:
- If a student, provide a letter from your institution confirming enrollment and leave approval.
- Property/Asset Documents:
- Ownership documents for property or assets in your home country.
8. Accommodation Details
- Hotel Reservations:
- Confirmed bookings for your stay in the UK.
- If staying with a host, provide their:
- Address details.
- Invitation letter.
- Proof of their residency or citizenship in the UK.
9. Travel Insurance
- Comprehensive Travel Insurance:
- Covering the duration of your stay in the UK, including medical emergencies.
- Though not mandatory, it is highly recommended.
10. Flight Reservations
- Round-trip Ticket Booking:
- Proof of booked return flight to your home country.
- Avoid purchasing non-refundable tickets before visa approval.
11. Supporting Documents (If Applicable)
- For Minors:
- Birth certificate.
- Notarized parental consent letter if the child is traveling alone or with one parent.
- Copies of parents’ passports.
- For Business Visitors:
- Invitation letter from a UK company.
- Proof of business activities, such as meeting schedules or event details.
- Medical Treatment Visitors:
- Appointment letter from a UK medical institution.
- Proof of ability to cover treatment costs.
12. Tuberculosis Test Certificate (if applicable)
- Required if applying from certain countries.
- Check the UKVI website to see if your country requires a TB test.
13. Biometric Appointment
- Biometric Enrolment:
- Schedule an appointment at a UK Visa Application Centre (VAC).
- Provide fingerprints and photograph at the VAC.
14. Interview
- Attend the Interview:
- Be prepared to answer questions about your trip, finances, and ties to your home country.
