Tourist Visa Checklist

1. Application Form and Photo

  • Visa Application Form:
    • Fully completed and signed Japan Visa Application Form.
    • Ensure all details are accurate and match your supporting documents.
  • Photograph:
    • Recent passport-sized photo (4.5 cm x 4.5 cm).
    • White background, taken within the last 6 months, and no headwear unless for religious reasons.

2. Passport

  • Original Passport:
    • Valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay.
    • Must have at least two blank visa pages.
  • Photocopy of Passport:
    • Provide a clear copy of the passport’s bio-data page.

3. Proof of Financial Capability

  • Bank Statements:
    • Latest 3–6 months of bank statements with sufficient funds to cover your travel.
    • Statements must be stamped by the bank.
  • Income Proof:
    • Latest Income Tax Return (ITR) or Certificate of Employment (if employed), indicating your salary and employment duration.
    • For self-employed applicants: Business registration certificate and tax documents.

4. Travel Itinerary

  • Daily Schedule in Japan (Tentative):
    • Detailed itinerary of your trip, including places you plan to visit, accommodation, and travel dates.
    • Use the template provided by the Japanese Embassy if available.

5. Flight and Accommodation Proof

  • Flight Tickets:
    • Confirmed round-trip flight reservations.
  • Accommodation:
    • Hotel booking confirmations covering your entire stay in Japan.
    • If staying with a relative/friend, include:
      • Letter of invitation.
      • Copies of their residence card, passport, and visa (if applicable).

6. Letter of Guarantee or Invitation (if applicable)

  • If invited by a Japanese resident or company:
    • Letter of Invitation:
      • Clearly stating the purpose of the visit, relationship with the applicant, and duration of stay.
    • Letter of Guarantee:
      • If the inviting party covers your expenses, this is required along with their financial documents (e.g., tax certificates).
    • Documents from the Inviter:
      • Japanese residents: Residency certificate, passport, and visa copy (if non-citizen).

7. Proof of Employment/Studies

  • For Employees:
    • Certificate of Employment indicating your position, salary, and leave approval.
  • For Students:
    • School enrollment certificate and permission letter for leave (if applicable).
  • For Self-Employed Individuals:
    • Business registration certificate and tax payment proof.

8. Additional Documents (if applicable)

  • Marriage/Birth Certificates:
    • If traveling with family and the relationship needs to be established.
  • Previous Travel History:
    • Copies of visas for other countries, especially previous Japan visas.
